Supercars Champion Mostert Battles for Points Amid Grand Prix Mayhem

Regaining Supercars Champion Chaz Mostert had a mixed bag of results in the first three days at Albert Park.

Two top-five finishes kept Mostert in the top 10 heading into the weekend’s final race.

“Every race has been pretty gutsy all up and down the field,” said Mostert.

“It's what it’s all about here at Grand Prix.

“I survived that last one in P5, was a bit lucky with a few people getting pretty stuck into each other, but that's how it goes.”

The Toyota responded better to the cooler conditions, and helped Mostert jump into the top five for both race one and three at Albert Park.

“These cooler conditions helped us a little bit today,” said Mostert.

“Everyone's struggling with the same type of stuff here.

“We just got to try and work a bit harder on car one for a bit more balance.”

Race four at Albert Park sees Mostert starting out of 12, with the conditions expected to be slightly warmer.

“It'll be a real good test for us,” said Mostert.

“(Warmer temperatures is) where we've been lacking a little bit more this weekend.

Mostert’s teammate Ryan Wood was able to get a podium on Friday’s race, and Mostert couldn’t have been happier.

“I’m super stoked, especially for our team,” said Mostert.

“The guys and girls worked hard on the car to get five Supras on the grid this year.

“No doubt we got plenty of work to do, but always getting that first trophy is sometimes a hurdle and to get that in the second event (is great).

“To watch a young fella do it, we know how talented he is.

“It's cool for him to get up there and get a third early in the year and I'm a little bit jealous of that too.

“I'd like to to get up there, but today we just didn't have the speed to get there.”
