Feeney wins as Kostecki Puts on Hand on Trophy
Broc Feeney recorded a win in controversial circumstances on Saturday night.
“There was one part of the track where Brodie (Kostecki) would just hose me,” Feeney said.
“He's been passing everyone into turn 11 all weekend.”
Late in the race, Brodie Kostecki had made a move on Feeney for the race lead, but Feeney cut the corner to maintain his advantage.
Feeney didn’t give the position to back Kostecki in the aftermath, and despite challenges would convert from pole position.
Cam Waters and Kai Allan drove through the field, Waters claiming third, while South Australia’s Allan got fourth.
“The job is to pass cars anyway, but when their battling and running into each other it makes my life a little bit easier,” said Waters.
The top four drivers were separated by less than a second at the line, as the cars changed position.
Earlier, a wild moment saw Matthew Payne hit the wall coming out of turn two, ending his race in the escape road.
The championship lead now returns to Feeney, while the Larry Perkins Trophy is still set to be awarded to Kostecki.
“It is nice to have the orange numbers back on the car,” said Feeney.
Starting out of P11 tomorrow, Feeney said it will be difficult to win the race.
“I'd love to fight for the win tomorrow,” said Feeney.
“There's always chaos here, I don't wish for chaos because I'm in the middle of the pack.
“I just probably want to learn something with the car.”
