Cameron Hill Becomes a Supercars Winner

Cameron Hill is a supercars winner, as he led teammate Nick Percat to the checkered flag at Albert Park on Friday afternoon.  It was a 1-2 for Matt Stone Racing, after starting 2nd and 3rd behind Broc Feeney.

Hill and Feeney lined up on the grid in positions one and two. Unfortunately for the man who won yesterday’s event, Hill was able to force Feeney to the outside and slipped through into the lead at turn one on the opening lap.

This made Feeney vulnerable to those behind, and Nick Percat took full advantage as he followed Hill’s Camaro.

Further down the grid Ryan Wood gave Jack Le Brocq a shove as they went wheel to wheel, and the Erebus car came out second best.  The Erebus car was ruined, and Le Brocq’s day was done as the safety car caught the leaders.  Wood was placed under investigation.

But the chaos of Supercars wasn’t done with yet;

Not even one turn after the restart, David Reynolds drove into the side of Thomas Randle, as he attempted to make a right hander for the turn.

Unfortunately for Reynolds, he didn’t see the 55 Mustang, and after receiving contact, went off into the gravel.  However, Reynolds did the car out, as was able to continue on, but not without the interference of another safety car.

The restart began on lap eight of 19, Hill began to pull away from teammate Percat, while Feeney and Brown remained in third and fourth respectively.

At the bottom of the 10, Cooper Murphy and Chaz Mostert were getting busy over 9th place.  As the two held each other up, this invited both Grove Racing cars to get involved as a battle pack formed.  However Murphy held on, with Mostert finishing in 10th.

Race number two at Albert Park saw Hill win to teammate Percat by just over 0.5 of a second.  While both Red Bull’s finished in 3rd and 4th.

The Supercars return tomorrow.
