The Wall and the Backpack

Chapter 2 New Bricks.

The woman slept in front of a wall. The clack of a brick falling to the ground woke her up. Each brick that made the wall had something inscribed on it. The woman picked up the fallen brick and saw what was written. ‘You suck.’ She was about to put the brick back, but it had been replaced by a see through one. The note inscribed was, ‘You suck less than you think.’ There was a scraping sound to the woman’s left. Another brick was being pushed out. It fell to the floor with a clack. She picked it up. Inscribed was, ‘Your smile is crooked.’ As the see through brick was placed she looked through to see a guy. He saw her looking at him, fell back and ran away. His bright blue backpack now permanently seared into the woman’s mind. She then read the see through brick. ‘I like the way your smile is crooked, it’s cute.’ The woman sat and contemplated for hours. Eventually she threw the two old bricks into the trash.

Chapter 12 New Bricks.

She awoke to the clacks again. She lay still, pondering what to do. Eventually she turned around, catching the guy she now called Backpack off guard, for he thought she was still asleep. He froze with a brick half way pushed through. The woman made eye contact and walked up to him until she was centimetres away from the wall. Backpack showed her the next new see through brick. It said, ‘You’re not ugly, you’re just not your type.’ She looked at the half pushed brick which just read, ‘Ugly.’ She pulled out the brick and tossed it aside. Then Backpack put the new brick in. Backpack noticed the woman was wearing a Lego shirt. He reached into his backpack pocket and pulled out a Lego piece. She figured it was an attempt to connect with her. The woman wondered if Backpack knew a sand green 3063 was worth eighty dollars. Then he put his hand out and offered it to her. It was a kind gesture, but Backpack put his hand through the see through bricks. Panic set in… He put his hand through the see through bricks he put his hand through the see through bricks he put his hand through the see through bricks he put his hand through the see through bricks he put his hand through the see through bricks he put his hand through the see through bricks HE PUT HIS HAND THROUGH THE SEE THROUGH BRICKS. The woman spun around and bolted for the door. Backpack placed the Lego 3063 brick on the floor.

Chapter 7 New Bricks.

The woman sat leaning on the solid bricks clutching the 3063 in her left hand. A few of the new bricks had been replaced by solid ones. She was worried she’d scared Backpack off. She heard footsteps coming from the other side of the wall. She sprung up hoping it was Backpack, and it was. They looked at each other not knowing what to say. Eventually the woman held up the 3063 and showed it to Backpack then held it to her chest. Smiling, Backpack reached into his backpack and pulled out another new brick. The woman nodded nervously. Backpack looked at a solid brick. On the front and back it said, ‘Coward.’ Backpack scribbled, ‘Getting braver.’ into the new brick. He was about to start pushing when the woman put her hand through some clear bricks and grabbed the solid brick on the side. She gently pulled out the brick and dropped it by her side. Backpack placed the new brick in.

Chapter 113 New Bricks.

They stood in front of the hole they’d made. There were now more than enough see through bricks for one of them to go through. They’d decided Backpack would go through to the woman’s side firsty and the woman would visit the other side on a later date. Backpack stepped through to the woman’s side. Backpack took a Lego City set from his backpack. The woman showed him a set of tables in a storage room. On the tables was a huge collection of Lego. On a small table there was some kind of church. On a pedestal there was the 3063 that Backpack gave her. The woman was so embarrassed, but Backpack found it cute and nice. He chuckled a little. The woman calmed down. They made the Lego City set that Backpack bought.
