Hub Profile: Megan Adrain

What inspired you to become a Hub Intern and what do you do in your role?

I was inspired to become a Hub Intern because it is a place that values my skill set, the content is created for young people by young people, and it allows me to develop my skills and experience new things. At Hub, my main role is as a Social Media Intern through which I help create visual content for the Hub Instagram page.

What are you passionate about outside of Hub?

Outside of Hub I have a few different passions and areas of interest. Currently I am studying a Bachelor of Creative Arts (Screen) through which I am learning about and building skills and knowledge in film production. I also do dance lessons and get involved in theatre. To relax I love to look after all my plants.

What’s your favourite thing about yourself?

I think my favourite thing about myself is that I am always doing lots of different things that are creative. I always have multiple projects on the go and am involved in a variety of creative groups. I love being able to further develop my abilities in a range of creative areas.

Favourite thing about living in Adelaide/SA?

My favourite thing about living in Adelaide is the arts scene. I think that people sometimes forget that the local arts scene is a vibrant space. Yes, most of the time big artists and shows skip Adelaide but if you look at local acts you will find so much talent. Adelaide has such a wide range of music and arts festivals that it is such an incredible space to be in as a creative.

If you had to give a 30 minute presentation with no notice, what would your topic be?

If I had to give a 30-minute presentation with no notice, my topic would be about the Australian Government’s response to climate change. I recently wrote an article for HUB about the need for the Australian Government to take more ambitious actions regarding their response to the climate crisis. You can go read the article now and also read the extended essay version if you get excited about environmental legislation like me.

Megan Adrain is a Journalism and Social Media Intern for Hub, exploring the creative arts, and impact of climate change.
