Wood on Provisional Pole, Mostert’s Trouble
After finishing second yesterday, Championship contender, Chaz Mostert will start from 12th on the road today heading into race 33.
Kai Allen was the fastest of the contenders, putting a 1:20:73 on the board in Q1.
Tom Randle took inspiration from yesterday when he had a lighter run in with the wall on the outside of eight. There was no damaged sustained to the Tickford entry, and he was able to continue on.
As bad as the day was from Chaz Mostert, it nearly got worse with the number 25 Mustang sitting in 18th in the first part of qualifying.
Luckily for Mostert he pulled a sessional lap out the bag, and put his car into fourth.
Unfortunately for Tickford, the luckily escape was not replicated, with Cam Waters to start Saturday’s race from 21st.
Mostert’s car wouldn’t start in Q2, while Cam Hill used every bit of the circuit as he ran his Chevrolet into the wall.
Mostert did get out of the garage eventually, but he wouldn’t survive, falling to 12th and missing out on the Top 10 Shoutout that kicks off at 12:35 local.
Ryan Wood’s 1.18.9600 the quickest of the session.
