Feeney Fastest in Back to Back Qualifying
Broc Feeney has set down a massive challenge to every single other driver on the Supercars grid, taking pole position in both of the back to back qualifying sessions at Melbourne’s Albert Park Circuit. In Qualifying Four, Feeney produced a 1:47.7 only to better that by 1:47.1 in Qualifying Five.
While it was the Triple Eight driver who emerged on top, both 15 minute sessions were interrupted by incidents and red flags.
Qualifying Four
Matthew Payne held provisional pole for the opening minutes of the day’s first qualifying, before Brodie Kostecki was the next driver to put the car into the barrier.
Kostecki was driving into the turn before his car didn’t follow suit, and he went into the wall, causing a red flag.
When the clock restarted, Payne stayed in the lane as everyone went back out. Brown went fastest in Sector One in the one-lap shootout, before getting his car into provisional pole.
Feeney’s third sector saw him then snatch provisional pole from his teammate, Feeney would hang on, to get Red Bull’s first Pole since Adelaide last year.
Brodie Kostecki saved his qualifying, pulling a lap good enough for position five after going back down the grid due to triggering the red flag.
Aaron Cameron’s rookie weekend went from good to bad, when he gave the wall at Turn Eight a little nudge. The Blanchard car went sideways, but avoided significant damage.
Elsewhere, Cameron Waters’ perfect start to the year faded as he was caught out with the red flag, while Thomas Randle and Chaz Mostert found themselves at the wrong end of the grid.

Qualifying Five
In the second qualifying session of the day, it was Waters who started off with the fastest lap; however, Feeney responded later, putting his Camaro top of the timesheets.
The session certainly wasn’t short of shocks, Nick Percat’s strong qualifying performance saw him hold provisional pole as everyone darted into the pits at the seven-minute mark.
However, it wasn’t to be the for experienced South Australian.
The reigning champion, Will Brown, returned to the top of the charts with his 1:47.4285. Before Feeney went bang, and made it two poles from two qualifying sessions.
Cameron Hill surprised everyone when he found himself in second, while Percat’s grid slot of third was also unexpected.
In better news for Cameron Waters, he was the fastest Ford on track, qualifying sixth.
