Fringe Review: Swamplesque 2

★★★★★

If you have ever wanted to watch Shrek 2, but gay, then Swamplesque 2 is the must-watch show for you!

(Loosely) following the events of Shrek 2, the dynamic and creative theatre group Trigger Happy Productions take you on a wild journey to the Kingdom of far far away. Filled with the classic humour of the films (alongside a touch of drag, cabaret and many other surprises) audiences see just how crazy fairy tale characters can get on Friday night!

The performance, also being a world premiere, is beyond captivating with a diverse variety of performances from drag, singing, parody, acrobatics and much much more!

For those who saw the original last year, Swamplesque 2 is a must-watch for anyone who missed out on its raw classic humour. The eight person cast each perform iconic character from Shrek, Donkey, Fiona, and of course, Fairy God Mother absolutely perfectly that you feel as if these are the characters brought to life.

Throughout the show, me and the entirety of the audience were always bursting out in laughter! Each iconic scene from the film whilst already in our memories was just out done each single time in a way you don’t get from other burlesque or cabaret performances.

For anyone figuring out what shows to watch, Swamplesque 2 is a must-watch for both fans of shrek, drag and more but also for anyone looking to see the absolute best of what Adelaide’s Fringe season has to show!
