Brutal Bulls Fire on Saturday Qualifying
Triple Eight dominated Saturday morning at Albert Park.
Both Broc Feeney and Will Brown will lead the field away in races three and four respectively.
For Brown, it’s his first pole at Albert Park.
Feeney on the other hand, has achieved pole seven previous times.
As qualifying began, all eyes were on Brodie Kostecki, who leads the Larry Perkins Trophy.
His first run was good enough for fourth, although, only momentarily.
Out in front, Feeney was fastest, cruising with a 1.46.167, six hundredths up on Aaron Cameron, while Brodie Kostecki was third.
Kostecki’s main rival for the Larry Perkins trophy, Matthew Payne starts in seventh.
Fresh off a podium yesterday, Ryan Wood’s gearbox gave him trouble in Qualifying Three.
Due to the time left, he was only able to get one lap of running in.
The Kiwi’s promising lap unraveled when he got caught in a train of cars, particularly unhappy with the behaviour of Thomas Randle.
Across the line, Wood made his frustrations known, sideswiping Randle’s Castrol entry as he qualified on the back row.
Randle didn’t let that stop him from going fastest to start qualifying four, but the session belonged to Brown.
Brown, in cooler conditions, displaced Randle to qualify with a 1.46.02, bettering the Tickford driver by 0.22 as he set the fastest lap of the day.
Kostecki and Payne will line up fourth and fifth on Sunday.
Supercars return at 5.35 local (5.05 Adelaide) across Kayo.
