Exclusive: “They’ve helped with Leadership and Maturity” - Nankervis

Luke Nankervis was quick to highlight the differences for the Crows between this year and last.

He said the new faces around the club have offered a point of difference. After five rounds last year, the Crows sat 1-4, having only between Carlton by two points.

Now sitting at 3-2 for season 2025, the Crows are certainly better placed then what they were last year and Nankervis opened up on this;

“We’ve got a few new inclusions, coaching staff and players. They’ve helped with leadership and our maturity throughout the group,” Nankervis said.

On Thursday night, Geelong handed the Crows their second loss of the season. It was the only time this year the Crows had been outclassed, the Gold Coast loss last week could’ve gone either way.

“Yeah it was a tough one. They were a bit more fundamental,” Nankervis said.

“We will look at it [the fact we were 30 points up] a little bit. I think we know what we need to do and we will get it done.”

Nankervis was quick to deflect from his own game, stating that he hadn’t had time to reflect.

“It would’ve been more sweet if we’d got the win,’ he added.

“We chose to go smaller this week in the backline. I had to play a little bit tall and small on [Tyson] Stengle and [Oliver] Henry,” Nankervis said on his oppoents.

The Crows are the only game at the Adelaide Oval next week as footy returns to the rest of the country. The Crows take on the Giants this Saturday with a 3:45 bounce scheduled.
