Meet the Interns: Sophie Hoff

What inspired you to become a Hub Intern and what do you do in your role?

My introduction to Hub was actually through a job interview I did with CCYP early last year, and even though I didn’t get the job, it was recommended that I apply for a position with Hub. I didn’t end up applying for a little while and then the day I was finally filling in the form online, they called me!! (way to make a girl feel special!)

Now, my role in the team is to write pop culture articles for the mag, from TV shows I like to award shows. I also oversee the Hub Instagram page (@hub_adl), making sure that everything is posted in a timely manner and according to the style guide I wrote up!

What are you passionate about outside of Hub?

I have been doing weekly dance classes since 2009 at Dance Fusion Studio of the Performing Arts (this is my 17th year of dance?? That’s Wild!). I am Big into a whole bunch of fibre crafts, from crochet, to knitting, to embroidery and cross-stitch. But most of all I’m part of so many fandoms! I shan’t tell you my Tumblr url, but just know that I practically live there and on fandom twitter.

If you had to give a 30 minute presentation with no notice, what would your topic be?

I could probably give a 30 minute presentation about any one of My Shows (and probably already have to my friends and the Hub team), but if I had to pick one it would probably be Doctor Who, and the presentation would be in the form of me playing Whodle and explaining my process.

(Whodle is a game where you guess the episode of Doctor Who just by seeing a frame. You have five guesses and the frame gets more obvious as the game goes on. I am really good at it.)
